Get along, little pogie

That fish that President George W. "W" Bush is so proud of catching down there in Crawford was probably the only head of livestock on the entire Lazy W spread, having been born in a plastic tank and dumped in the president's lake, there to thrive until captured.

Press, bitten in the ass, fails to notice

Two points about the coverage and lack of coverage of Stephen Colbert's audacious takedown of President George W. "W" Bush at the annual We're Just a Bunch of Shallow Kidders White House Correspondents Dinner:

1) Many commenters have pointed out that President Bush's own routine with the Bush imitator got lots of coverage, despite having had much of the same content as Colbert's, that is, "Bush is an inarticulate, lazy idiot who hates the press."

2) Few have noted, however, that it is news when someone at a public affair disses the president from ten feet away. It has nothing to do with my politics for me to say that news accounts of a public affair that do not mention one of the main events at that affair are piss-poor news accounts. That the reporters were getting equally dissed is no excuse, because Bush had already done that.

Tale of Two Bleak Houses with an Oliver Twist

Dusty Foggo is the most Dickensian name on the national scene since Newt Gingrich.

Ed's note: 5 minutes later: Okay, Jack Straw too.

I have no idea what this all means, but it's both shallow and deep, I'm sure

I hope your browser can handle this. A bunch of silly, amusing people just put on khakis and blue shirts and did a silly, amusing thing at a Best Buy store.

And while we're boning up on commercial culture from slow-loading sites, click
here to be shocked and scandalized.

Ed's note: Fixed second link. Prepare again to be shocked and scandalized.

The banner with stars enspangled, as they say in Spanish

I don't get what all the fuss is about singing the national anthem in Spanish.

After all, the first word in the song is José
